Whitehaven Beach is located on the eastern side of Whitsunday Island, the largest of the 74 islands in the Whitsunday group. The beach is famous for its 7km stretch of pure white silica sand, which is 98% pure silica — among the purest sand in the world.
At the northern end of the beach, the Hill Inlet lookout offers a breathtaking view of the tide shifting sand and sea in a stunning fusion of colours. The inlet is best viewed from the walking track lookout, a short walk through the national park.
Whitehaven Beach is only accessible by boat, seaplane or helicopter, making it a pristine and uncrowded destination. The beach is part of the Whitsunday Islands National Park and is protected for future generations to enjoy.
Whitehaven Beach is approximately 30km east of Airlie Beach on Whitsunday Island. Our day trips depart from Rufus & Co Cafe at Port of Airlie. Check-in is at Shop 16/33 Port Dr, Airlie Beach QLD 4802.
Please arrive 30 minutes before your departure time to complete the safety briefing. Parking is available at Port of Airlie. Allow 5 minutes to walk from the car park to Rufus & Co Cafe.
